Color, Sound, Wind:
Sunday August 7, 12-3pm
Point Fermin Park, 739 West Paseo Del Mar, San Pedro, CA 90731
As part of Current LA, the inaugural LA Public Art Biennial, local art and radio collective KCHUNG invited me to propose a project for a state park, in relation to the theme of water. In this piece, where a cliff meets the ocean at Point Fermin, I planned music correlating to weather patterns, and led a community folk art creation that addresses the reality of climate change. All who came were invited to fill in colors and patterns of an easy-to-read folk artwork on canvas. The music encouraged awareness of climate and it’s fragility, and guided the visual artwork created throughout the day by people: bringing together education, art, music, and eco-activism.
